On December 9th, 2001 White Aryan Resistance leader Tom Metzger returned to Portland, Oregon, for the first time since his loss in the Mulugeta Seraw murder civil trial. Metzger was on hand to deliver a speech at an event organized by Volksfront, a white power skinhead group based in Portland. The meeting and concert, featuring white power bands Aggressive Force, Final War, and Intimidation One, was billed as a memorial for Erik Banks, a former member of the popular neo-Nazi skinhead band Bound for Glory. Metzger's speech was on "Martyr's Day", the anniversary of the death of Order leader Robert Matthews. Following the concert, police arrested Gary Carson Brown, 32, in connection with the beating of Lindsay Ulrich in early November. After refusing to take part in an attack on anti-racist skinheads, Brown and four others kidnapped Ulrich, beat her, and held her for four days. Brown and his co-conspirators were indicted on December 14th on charges ranging from first-degree assault to second-degree kidnapping. (Associated Press, December 10, 2001).
